NBA 2010-2011 Season Opener: Miami Heat @ Boston Celtics

In just a few more hours, the NBA 2010-11 Season commences to one of the best matchups to date; the Miami Heat vs. the Boston Celtics.

The Boston Celtics are this year's runner-up to NBA Champions and arch-rival Los Angeles Lakers. Although, they lost Rasheed Wallace to retirement, they shouldn't miss a beat in the middle with their acquisition of big men Shaquille and Jarmaine O'neal.

With the original ‘Big Three’ of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen still intact, the Boston Celtics have another legitimate shot at a record 18th NBA title. The Celtics have what it takes to dominate, but will age catch up with Celtics and lose out on a potential NBA record 18th NBA title?

The Miami Heat got kicked out of the championship race in the first round by the Boston Celtics and they vowed to get better. Better they became when certified superstars LeBron James and Chris Bosh decided to join Dwyane Wade in Miami.

James, the league’s most prolific player last season, and Wade, if he stays healthy, can form a devastating 1-2 punch who could present nightmares to rival teams all the way to the finals. Add to the mix a true All-Star center in Bosh to form their own 'Big Three', and a supporting cast that include Jerry Stackhouse, ‘Z’ Ilgauskas and Eddie House--Miami coach Erik Spoelstra is now the envy of every NBA coach. (Except, perhaps, LA Lakers coach Phil Jackson).

The Heat too, surely has what it takes to dominate, but do they have what it takes to take home the ultime price--Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy?

Who do you think is going to win the NBA 2010-11 Season opener?!

Thank You Saudi Arabia! Good Luck Smart Gilas

THE RP-Smart Gilas team’s campaign in the 16th Asian Games got a big lift Monday following reports that Saudi Arabia has withdrawn from the basketball competitions of the quadrennial meet to be held in Guangzhou, China.

Instead of the Saudis, who are a complete mystery to the Gilas squad, the nationals will now take on Kuwait in the knockout, first round phase of the tournament beginning on Nov. 13 at the Huangpu gym.

Although the Kuwaitis should not be taken lightly, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Noli Eala said they’re a better matchup for the RP squad compared to the Saudis.

We Like To Move It! Move It!

These lemurs may have watched the movie Madagascar and seem to have taken a liking to the King Julien's 'I Like To Move It, Move It' (clip provided below) dance moves.

In reality though, it's a case of "Strictly Run Dancing" for these Sifaka lemurs. These 'dance' moves--springing on their hind legs and raising their arms for balance--are used by these animals to travel around in the Ifotaka forest of Madagascar, Africa. It's the quickest way for them to avoid predators and reach their foraging grounds.

The Sifaka's name comes from their distinctive call that sounds like 'shafik'.

The Sifaka lemurs live throughout the forests of Madagascar and are unique to the island. They are highly social and live in troops of up to 40 individuals, but are threatened by increased human encroachment into their feeding grounds.

The 48 Laws Of Power Explained

The 48 Laws of PowerA few days ago, I posted a status message on Facebook (which I think is still there ^^,) containg the first of The 48 Laws of Power. I'd like to share the rest of the laws which comes from the book written by Robert Green and Joost Elffers in 1998.

The book uses anecdotes from historical figures such as Louis XIV, Talleyrand, Otto von Bismarck, Catherine the Great, Mao Zedong, Haile Selassie and various con artists in order to illustrate real-world application of the 48 rules.

The 48 Laws of Power, which has been compared to Sun-Tzu's classic treatise The Art of War, is for those who WANT power, WATCH power, or want to ARM themselves AGAINST power.

As you read along, you may come to a realization that you practice some or most of these 48 laws unknowingly in one way or another. Some of the 48 laws of power could also be brutish and ruthless, be careful as you pick a law to apply as you may gain more than what you bargained for...

Another Super Typhoon To Hit The Philippines

Super typhoon Megi AKA 'Juan' traumatized the Philippines with its strong winds and heavy rains. At least 27 died, 24 injured and thousands more homeless during Juan's outlash. And while super typhoon Juan has not totally left the counter, another powerful storm is brewing and is likely to enter the Philippine area or responsibility on Saturday.

PAGASA, the Philippines' weather bureau said the incoming typhoon is as strong as 'Juan' and may even follow the path of super typhoon “Juan,” which pummeled Isabela, Cagayan, the Ilocos region and Cordillera.

As of yesterday afternoon, the low pressure area was spotted 1,100 kilometers from the Philippine area of responsibility or 2,400 kilometers East of Luzon.

Once the new typhoon enters the country, it will be named “Katring” and is expected to make landfall on the 27th of October.

Initial estimates of the economic damage from the storm amounted to almost P five but this may increase since not all reports from affected areas had come in.

Super Typhoon Megi Strikes The Philippines

This is the picture of super Typhoon Megi that hit the Philippines with 140mph winds today. The northern Isabela province is currently feeling the hardest onslaught by the locally named 'Juan.' The super typhoon is said to be the worst storm to hit the Philippines since typhoon Pepeng hit.

Also due to the trauma brought about by the catastrophe that was typhoon Pepeng, thousands of villagers in Northern Isabela province and even in nearby provinces have fled to safety. Over a hundred thousand people from southern China and some more in Vietnam have also evacuated their homes in preparation for floods that could accompany the storm.

Typhoon Megi packed sustained winds of 140mph and gusts of 162mph and could strengthen even further as it progress and moves toward Southern China or Vietnam.

You can follow the current events and news for Typhoon Megi (Juan) from major TV networks in the Philippines HERE.
